Mike the 2600 King is a just and humble monarch. DJing around the Minneapolis area and playing with the likes of Spankrock and Mixmaster Mike, I suspect that soon the king will reign over all the world. Here's Mega Injection, like a 8-bit version of an all girl Hispanic jump rope troupe.

WEEK 2, DAY 1: MINNEAPOLIS vs VANCOUVER

The Canadian Dollar may have finally passed the US Dollar, but let's not let that cloud anyone's judgement. Two great blogs against each other this week, and a (slightly) revamped look for STREET CLASH. What a week!

Shut up you twit!

twit [twit] noun: A "pregnant goldfish"; which is impossible. Some species of fish do give birth to live young (e.g. guppies and some species of shark), but goldfish, like all cyprinids lay eggs.

This is the introduction we get to Pregnant Goldfish, as eccentric as the characters behind the blog. Marilis, Dane, and Alison are on the prowl of the streets and parties of Montreal and Toronto, scavenging for the glamourous and trash alike. Canada can party, it seems. Here's a STREET CLASH interview with Marilis & Alison, hope it tides you over until laptop is fixed:::

Dane, Marilis, & Alison

1. Who and what is Pregnant Goldfish's camera looking to capture?

Our cameras aren't really looking for anything in particular, they simply find what we feel is special and unique. Each of us (Marilis, Alison and Dane) have an individual appetite for style, and our photos reflect accordingly. Unlike other street style sites, ours is run solely for fun, and its purpose is to exhibit what friends and local strangers are wearing. We have a tendency to joke around, and often not even mention a word about clothing in our commentaries, but that is OK with us, and clearly OK with our readers. In addition to regular street style photos, the Pregnant Goldfish cameras capture parties! Yay! We look for crazy moments and even crazier people and shamelessly put them up for all to see.

2. What are Pregnant Goldfish's favourite spots in Toronto and Montreal ?

Toronto is a big city with a ton to offer. It's hard to find your way around, but when you do, you should head straight to Queen West, one of the most stylish areas in Toronto. Sprinkled around that area are some of the best shops and parks. When the sun sets, there is no shortage of parties and our favourites are hosted by A.D/D, and usually end up at an afterparty in a wonderful hidden loft called Ourspace. Also, The Social and The Drake Hotel are good bets, and the soon to be – Circa. And the CN tower is overrated.

Montreal has a park on every corner. Montreal also has a good bar on every corner. There aren't too many really good shopping spots here, despite popular belief, but aside from Salvation Army and Value Village, both second hand stores, we like to shop at oldGold, Reborn, Preloved, and the Kop Shop –a local gallery and art store, and end with a wonderful calzone and coffee at Eurodeli. Montreal also has bagels. Famous Montreal bagels….. For parties, we love, Blizzarts, The S.A.T, and CODA; the homes of Peer Pressure, Nu Ravers on The Block and I Love Neon parties. And after those parties, Montreal 's biggest hot spot has got to be the $2 Chow Mein on St. Laurent , generally followed by an afterparty at a loft in the old port.

3. What are the streets of Montreal and Toronto looking like these days? What are the Canadians wearing?

Montreal and Toronto are very different cities, so we're going to talk about them separately.

Montreal is a special place because it doesn't have a super affluent younger group like many European cities, and U.S. hot spots. Consequently style comes from finding good clothes in unusual places and wearing them well, rather than buying high fashion labels from designer boutiques. The result is an eclectic sense of street style and a modest and open minded attitude towards fashion. Nightlife brings an entirely different street style to the table, catering to those who love full costume, facepaint and themed parties. This is where Montreal's crazy, chaotic fashion scene really shows its colors. For our party photos click HERE!

Toronto , on the other hand has easier access to name-brand clothing pieces and this is reflected in the general street fashion. While the majority of young people dress relatively mainstream, there is a significant group who have fantastic style. Toronto has some very well put together people, who clearly invest time and effort in picking and choosing their outfits. This is strongly reflected in the younger scene kids seen at the parties we've mentioned earlier and featured on our site.

4. How is Canada shaping up against the rest of the world?

Canada against the rest of the world? Canada would definitely lose… But believe it or not, Canada has some good stuff going for it now. As much as many of you would love to believe, we DON'T live in igloos, and we DON'T wear parkas all year long. Just from looking at other Canadian street style blogs like The Commodified, it becomes apparent that Canada has some trendy people in addition to its cold weather and polar bears.

Glamcanyon is for lovers

STREETCLASH has its downtime on the weekends, as you know. But that doesn't mean the party has to end. As part of a series of features on Street Fashion photographers around the world, STREETCLASH will be talking with some of our best contributors, as well as bringing you photos from other spots that aren't in the competition. So, it's my pleasure to start it all off with one of my favourite new blogs, Glamcanyon.

Glamcanyon was our NYC contributor for Round 2, knocked out by Copenhagen. But that's not stopping Katja, Queen of the canyon. Glamcanyon has since moved to Berlin and has now landed up in London. Here's what Katja's saying about things:::

Q: What do you do with your days and your nights?

A: To be honest, I don't like to reveal too much about my personal life. Just kidding. I just moved to London about two weeks ago since I'm going to do a MSc in psychology for a year. I therefore will be quite occupied with studying during the day but hopefully some time will fall off for taking pictures, drinking and dancing (my 3 favorite things). In the near future I will try myself as a journalist for a German fashion news agency and i've been commissioned to do several fashion shoots for online magazines.

Q: Berlin, NYC, and London. What's the difference in style?

A: New York is all about the label. I remember few people I photographed who did not wear at least one designer piece. Among their favorite brands right now are Marc Jacobs, Surface to Air and Ksubi. The New Yorker likes to dress comfortable but cool with a personal twist.

London is a lot more about looking original whatever it takes. Zebra costumes, dive masks, faces entirely covered in neon make up - all at 2 in the afternoon on a Monday. And the funny part is that no one even raises an eyebrow.

Berlin still may be the most tamed out of the bunch but is definately on its way forward. Berliners are a very laid back and unpretentious crowd which reflects in their outfits. Mostly comfortable dresses, shirts, pants, no print, earthy colors. There are many different fashion microcosmos in Berlin which turn out especially at night. Then you see 40's gentlemen, 50's pin ups, 80's lovers and a handful of new rave kids.

Q: If Glam Canyon were a real place, what kind of place would it be?

A: It would sparkle, no doubt. Everyone there would express themselves through art and fashion and there would be loads of good parties.

Q: Where is Katja and the Canyon heading? What's next?

A: Right now I'm doing a ton of things. I'm busy studying, I photograph a lot more fashion and glamour and of course there is Glamcanyon. I could become a psychologist. Or a star photographer, or maybe I'll assemble a team and turn Glamcanyon into a magazine.
Right now I very much feel like in the middle of an intersection and every street leads to a bright and exiting future. I'm just sort of waiting for the green light that indicates the best way.
